Hello… and thank you for visiting my site.
I’m Helene Brunicardi an artist based in the South West of Ireland and I love to paint still life, floral arrangements and Irish landscape paintings.
I grew up in Dublin. My family moved and my father’s links with the Navy brought us to Cork, where my fascination with the sea as a subject emerged. After graduation from Crawford School of Art, I moved to Killarney and found my true subject in the natural beauty of its mountains and woodlands with their abundance of wild flowers.
As a young Art Teacher in Killarney, I had some exhibitions in Fermoy and later in Limerick and at the “Old Market House”, Dungarvan. In 1993, I exhibited in the Frank Lewis Gallery with Patricia Bianchi and Sr. Angelica. Later I exhibited there with my brother, marine artist, Daire Brunicardi.
The Frank Lewis Gallery hosted a solo show of my work in 2002. Another solo show of my work in Killarney Library in 2006 was followed by “Flower Power” at Frank Lewis Gallery in 2007 in the company of Vicki Crowley and the renowned flower painter Geraldine O’Brien.
I have also shown some paintings in the “Killarney Frame Shop” in the last few years. My large scale work is in oil on canvas, while I reserve the more delicate medium of watercolour for many of my flower paintings.
In early Summer 2012 Helene held a very successful exhibition in Killarney Library with her friend of many years and fellow artist the late Valerie Treacy Aichinger R.I.P. The exhibition was called “Duets”.
